What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or tapping) is a technique that helps to bridge the gap between the emotional and the rational mind.

It combines principles of Chinese medicine (such as acupuncture and acupressure) with ideas from Western psychology to achieve a fast release of stress and negative emotions.

EFT is sometimes compared to “acupuncture without needles.” Instead of the needles it uses gentle tapping with one’s fingers on certain acupressure points on the upper part of one’s body.

What problems can EFT be used to treat?

EFT can help with a variety of issues such as:

EFT can also help with physical pain which is often a symptom of emotional distress.

There are two modes of performing EFT:

  • Tapping could be done by a practitioner on the client (with her or his consent).
  • The client can ‘mirror’ practitioner tapping on her/his own body.
